Pierrot Lunaire & Werifesteria
Picosa is thrilled to present the world premiere of Werifesteria. This new work by Chicago-based multimedia artist Rosśa Crean draws instrumentation and psychological themes from Schoenberg’s Pierrot Lunaire, which will follow for a dramatic evening of music and emotion.
Werifesteria is inspired by the composer’s own hikes while grappling with grief, gender identity, and anxiety. It evokes a wander through the woods: full of wonder and fear; awash in color, light, and shadow.
The debut will be followed by Arnold Schoenberg’s, Pierrot Lunaire, which combines the speak-singing of Sprechstimme with the unique instrumentation that would give its name to Picosa’s own format as a Pierrot ensemble.
