Siren Songs is a recital exploring humankind’s relationship with nature, our water systems, and climate change. Featuring the Midwest premiere of 4 newly-composed art song cycles for treble voice and piano, Siren Songs is a project uniting ecological activism with musical excellence. Each piece toys with portrayals of “sirens” — an unnamed voice calling out to her audience, with a message that is equal parts inviting as well as alarming– the water is rising, and nature is dying.
Featuring performances by Cristina Gallo, Soprano, Jacqueline Victoria Kerns, Mezzo-Soprano, and AnnaLotte Smith, Piano. Compositions by Monica Chew, Valencio Jackson, Lisa Neher, and Ben Zucker.
